Artist and goldsmith, Douglas Bell was raised in rural southern Manitoba. While growing up he spent most of his free time outdoors riding horses and exploring.

His early teen years were spent on long canoe trips in Northwestern Ontario and Northern Manitoba and it was then that he started to develop a passion for the Canadian Wilderness and Wildlife.

In his early working years he lived in Northern Manitoba, Northern Saskatchewan, North West Territories and Northern Alberta.

After moving to Banff in 1986, Doug developed an interest in carving and doing high detail drawings of wildlife. A friend, who owns a local jewelery store, asked if he would be interested in working in his goldsmith shop. Over a three-year period he apprenticed with a master goldsmith and began to develop his own line of hand crafted and hand carved jewelery, incorporating Wildlife, Mountains, Horses and Flowers. Doug is also able to incorporate almost anything provided in a photograph. Doug can create your special piece in almost any metal including titanium.

As you will see throughout the website Doug has used mountain ranges, wildlife, and flowers in rings, pendants, and earrings and would love to create a special piece per your specifications. He loves to work with people to create a one of a kind piece that captures their favorite mountain range, flower, or pet. He can include diamonds and rare stones. These creations include promise rings, engagement rings custom made to capture your special memory, wedding bands, or a distinctive souvenir of an extraordinary place. He strives to make your shopping experience in Banff an unforgettable one.

He can also create custom, championship dog rings, and western style silver and gold work. Including horse rings and western style belt buckles. Doug will also do custom silver work that is incorporated into western saddles custom handmade by his brother Rick Bell who also resides in Alberta.

Doug continues to live in Banff with his wife Sharon and his two children, Jaden who cherishes his two silver rings, and Mercedes who looks forward to wearing a bracelet with a mountain range of her hometown of Banff.

Doug does not use techniques such as casting and wax carving, which can take up to a few days to create a final product. Doug hand carves right into the metal and is therefore able to produce unique, one of a kind, highly detailed work in gold, silver, and platinum in a very short period of time. We invite you to provide Doug with your vision and you will go home with your very own creation within 12 to 48 hours.
